First successful infusion attempts of our vitrimer aeronautic resin performed by IDEC

Within the VIBES project, SPECIFIC POLYMERS (SP) has been developing biobased and recyclable epoxy resins not only for the construction and naval industries but also for the highly demanding aeronautic industry.
In collaboration with IDEC, first generations of vitrimer-based aeronautic resins were processed through infusion to manufacture carbon fabric composite panels, showing promising processability. Some mechanical tests (tension, compression, interlaminar shear strength etc.) are currently carried out by IDEC to fully assess the properties of the resulting composite materials.
Once the results are confirmed and new grades of vitrimer-based aeronautic resins are evaluated, SP will start the production of the best formulation at a scale of 5-8 kg.
