Exploring Dynamic Exchange Processes: Kinetics Study by Specific Polymers

11.10.23

Depending on the nature of the dynamic chemical bonds as well as the nature of substituents, chemical exchanges occurring in vitrimers, during the topological rearrangement, can be accelerated or altered. This effect could have a significant influence on both the cross-linking density and the viscosity, which obviously impact the overall thermomechanical properties of materials, such as reshaping and recycling efficiency.

In this case, the disulfide crosslink exchanges have been studied by kinetic investigation of HPLC comparing model reactions. So far, different mechanisms could be attributed to disulfide exchanges such as radical mediated exchange or anion-mediated mechanism. This investigation is still in progress.
