Chemical degradation of crosslinked materials

Depending on the nature of the dynamic chemical bonds, chemical recycling can be achieved on synthesized materials. This strategy is very appealing especially for the composites industry in view of recovering the fibers using soft depolymerization conditions.

In this case, due to the reversible nature of the disulfide crosslinks, the resins could be easily dissolved in appropriate conditions. So far, several vitrimer samples showed interesting degradation properties in optimized conditions with a fast and full degradation in mild conditions.
